Ikwezi Art Centre - sponsored by Silke Financial Services

Ikwezi Art Centre is situated at the Montebello Design Centre at 31 Newlands Avenue in Newlands, Cape Town.

The primary focus of Ikwezi Art Centre is the upliftment of previously disadvantaged artists and to create an outlet for the sustainability of a commercially viable venue for talented individuals in order to explore their creative abilities to full potential.

Given the yet unexplored artistic talent in Township schools throughout South Africa as well other artists requiring funding and an outlet for their works, Ikwezi Art Centre will eventually become a sustainable art centre offering the following subsidised facilities:

• The exhibition of original African art on canvass, paper using oils, acrylics and mixed media
• the training of "new" up-and-coming artists.
• The bringing of township art to the broader population and the tourist trade;

We have recently taken on a new crafter who has extensive experience and training and will be exploring the use of other forms of art.
